Won't you come to Hertfordshire, Fitzwilliam?
DARCY
If I ever lay eyes on that man again I'll have him drawn and quartered. Or worse.
MRS. HURST
You need something to get your mind off this dreadful episode, Fitzwilliam.
DARCY
Yes, a month or so at Pemberley will do me a world of good. I could help Georgiana get over this whole business.
MRS. HURST
Well, perhaps she needs to be by herself for a while.
DARCY
By herself?
MRS. HURST
I had quite a talk with her on the way back. I think you'll be surprised at how quickly she recovers.
DARCY
But how will I get over it?
MRS. HURST
You should join me in Hertfordshire for a few weeks.
DARCY
Hertfordshire? What on earth's in Hertfordshire?
MRS. HURST
Charles' new estate.
DARCY
Oh, good gravy. Not again.
MRS. HURST
It's called Netherfield.
DARCY
I thought he finally learned his lesson last year.
MRS. HURST
At least Hertfordshire is on the way to Pemberley. Ever stop there?
DARCY
Just once, when I was a lad. We passed through a town called... what was it? Merivale or something.
MRS. HURST
Charles says it's all very beautiful. And he's already heard about some of the local ladies.
DARCY
...Had a footrace with a local girl. Tiny thing. She beat me too.
MRS. HURST
Caroline's coming. The two of you will have a delightful time I'm sure.
DARCY
...The ribbons in her hair... Very odd.
MRS. HURST
You need a change of scenery, Fitzwilliam.
DARCY
Oh, I'm afraid you're on your own this year, Louisa.
MRS. HURST
Maybe Charles will finally get lucky this time.
DARCY
Lucky in Hertfordshire? Who in heaven's name would live in Hertfordshire?
MRS. HURST
Caroline and I are going there on Wednesday. Why don't you come up with my husband on Friday? You can help keep him out of trouble.
